A reduction in the quantity of exercise increases the risk for disease, and this trend is developing into a social problem. However, regular exercise was only performed in 35.9%. Especially, young people in their twenties did absolutely no exercise in 67.3% for women and in 50.0% for men, which was the highest among age groups. Having no time was the main reason for not exercising. People knew how important exercise is to themselves. But they just prefer the entertainment factor as leisure life to the effect of exercise. Moreover, most exercise devices have only been developed for an exercise effect without entertainment. For these reasons, there has been a recent interest in horse riding as exercise because it could provide exercise including other activities. Moreover, horse riding is a whole body exercise with an outstanding exercise effect. Horse riding has been known to not only be beneficial as exercise but also for rehabilitation and treatment of patients with disabilities. Due to these reasons, many researches have progressed and reported on the exercise effect of horse riding. As a whole body exercise, horse riding strengthens hip flexibility and corrects posture. In particular, because horse riding uses all body muscles, it could improve postural balance, muscle strength, and flexibility. Horse riding is a three-dimensional (3D) movement and stimulates deep muscles, which activate muscles and joints. Horse riding exercise has developed into a whole body leisure sport, but has not become popular due to the limits of time, place, and cost. Therefore, many horse riding exercise devices that copy a horse’s movement have been developed for indoor exercise. Muscular endurance of the entire body, muscle strength, equilibrium, and flexibility improve following indoor horse riding exercise using a horse simulator. Indoor horse riding exercise stimulates particular areas only provided by a horse through electromyography analysis on a horse riding simulator. However, most horse riding exercise devices have not been tested, because research on indoor horse riding has not used commercialized equipment. Furthermore, few studies on the effect of indoor horse riding exercise equipment have studied the effects on the human body. So, there is a need to research the effects of horse riding exercise equipment for detailed and quantifiable effect on the people. The objective of our study was to verify the exercise effect of commercialized horse riding equipment and to suggest a quantifiable exercise effect concerning basal fitness, muscle function and aerobic metabolism on the human body for evaluating the possibility of health improvement. Subjects performed horseback riding exercise using slim-rider(rider. korea) for indoor. Our study had target on indoor horseback riding exercise. Because there are few researches using that exercise instrument. For analysis on exercise effect, we used methods in human body effect. Also we measured basal physical fitness, lumbar muscle function and aerobic function test. Subject group are divided twenties female, in the aged and overweight people. They have no experience to exercise with horseback riding and medical history with fallen. Twenties female group exercised every 33 minutes a day. Exercise has progressed 3-days a week till 4-weeks. Aged person group performed horse riding exercise at sixty minutes a day. Exercise has progressed three days a week for eight weeks. And overweight people group performed horse riding exercise at 30 minutes a day. Exercise has progressed three days a week for 12 weeks. We always kept a constant temperature and humidity for preventing errors. Our study performed measurement once a 4 weeks for human body effect. The results of basal physical fitness and lumbar muscle function test showed that indoor horse riding exercise have an effect in promoting muscle. Because that human body keep postural stability when 3-D movement of horseback riding. Also indexes of muscular reaction were higher. movements of horseback riding exercise stimulated sensory nerve and motor nerve, and those make muscular reaction improved. Especially when indoor horse riding exercise speed is slow, the subjects used to the lower limb muscle in order to maintain a correct posture. The other way speed is fast, the subjects used to the back strength and lumbar muscle. As a result of aerobic function test, Indoor horse riding exercise closed to the anaerobic exercise. In the result of the respiratory exchange ratio, we thought that carbohydrates might be used as the main energy source during indoor horse riding exercise. With the above results, we found that indoor horse riding exercise have an effective in improving muscular strength. We suggested indoor horse riding exercise is effective indoor exercise method for aged person, the disabled and patient who hard to carrying on outside activity.
