WSOC, a crucial component in particles in the atmosphere, can affect public health and influence climate conditions. It is important to understand the characteristic WSOC behavior for each range of particle size to analyze its impact on climate. This study analyzed WSOC collected by a high-volume sampler in fine-mode (PM2.5) and coarse-mode (PM2.5-PM10) particles. In fine-mode, WSOC correlated well with EC. On the other hand, in coarse mode, the emission of SOC through a secondary production process (reactions of OC already in the atmosphere) seemed higher (44%) than in the case of fine mode (38%). Moreover, the study tracked WSOC emission sources during Type 1 (North of China) and Type 2 (from northeast of China to West Sea) periods to evaluate the impacts of traffic emission, biomass burning, and matter originating in soil. In the fine mode case, traffic emissions seemed to influence both air masses (R2 > 0.80). The study revealed that the impact of biomass burning on emission of WSOC to the atmosphere seemed to be higher in Type 2 air masses. In coarse mode cases, the study showed that the emission of WSOC is influenced by matter originating in soil (R2 > 0.55).
