현대 의료기관에서는 기본적인 진료서비스 외 의료소비자에게 다방면의 의료서비스를 제공하고 있으며, 이에 대한 만족도 향상을 위해 다양한 노력을 기울이고 있다. 1995년부터 시행 중인 의료기관 서비스평가 제도가 대표적인 예로써, 환자가 병원에서 겪는 불편을 개선하여 의료 이용 편이를 증진 시키고 의료기관의 서비스 향상이 목적이며, 의료기관 서비스평가 제도의 주요 평가항목은 진료서비스를 기본으로 하고 의료외적 서비스인 생활서비스, 급식서비스로 나뉜다. 이러한 의료서비스의 다양화에 따라 의료소비자들의 진료서비스와 의료외적 서비스에 대한 기대도가 커지고 있는 실정이다. 입원환자들의 경우 기대치는 더욱 증대되며, 입원생활 관련 서비스의 질 향상을 기대하는 추세이다. 특히, 입원환자의 치유와 회복에 가장 직접적 영향을 미치는 급식의 품질 및 영양 서비스와 급식 관련 정보를 제공하는 정보제공 서비스 등의 식생활 관련 서비스의 품질향상은 매우 중요한 관심사이다.

이에 본 연구에서는 급식 정보제공 서비스에 초점을 두어, 입원환자들이 입원 중 식단정보를 보다 효율적으로 제공받도록 정보접근의 용이성에 기반을 둔 식단안내문 개선안을 제안하고자 국내 500병상 이상인 대학병원을 중심으로 서울권 병원 7곳과 부산권 병원 2곳을 선정하여 병원 내 영양부서를 직접 방문, 관찰 및 자료수집을 통해 식단안내문의 종류와 구성내용을 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 입원 중 환자들의 식단에 대한 관심도가 높은 것에 비해 정보의 내용 및 중요도에 따른 분류가 이루어지지 않아, 원하는 정보를 쉽고 빠르게 읽어 낼 수 없어 정보전달력이 낮은 것이 최대의 공통적 문제점으로 확인되어, 정보를 내용 및 중요도에 따라 분류하고 시각화하여 가독성을 높인 식단안내문 개선안을 제안하였다. 인쇄물 외 디지털 매체를 통한 정보 전달이 필요하다는 의견을 반영하여 매체나 장소에 국한되지 않고 유연하게 정보를 제공받도록 식단정보를 제공하는 모바일 어플리케이션의 가이드라인을 제안하였다. 이를 기반으로 인쇄물 형태의 식단안내문과 디지털 매체인 식단정보제공서비스 모바일 어플리케이션을 입원환자 25명을 대상으로 사용성 평가를 진행하였으며, 최종적인 입원환자용 식단안내 가이드라인을 제안 하였다. 이를 통해 입원환자들이 입원 원하는 식단정보를 쉽고 유연하게 제공 받게 되길 기대하며, 나아가 정보전달 측면의 의료서비스 발전에 기여할 것을 기대한다.
