Due to users’ requests for high-quality videos, broadcasting services have started to adapt to UHD TV. UHD received attention as one of advanced broadcasting services, but it requires technology such as high efficient video coding and data transport for full-fledged commercialization. High efficient video codec is necessary for UHD broadcasting. HEVC(high efficiency video codec) was suggested for UHD broadcasting, but stable UHD service is hard to provide through broadcasting network because of broadcasting frequency band even using HEVC. It is considered as one of solutions that suggests transporting through heterogeneous networks. SHVC, scalable video codec which based on HEVC, can encode one video with various encoding settings such as various bit-rate, frame rate, definitions, etc. With using this characteristic of SHVC, we can encode UHD contents hierarchically and also can transport each hierarchical data through heterogeneous networks. In this paper, we present service signalling method for hierarchical UHD broadcasting over heterogenous networks.
