The purpose of this study was to illustrate the mediating effects of compassion in teaching commitment and psychological well-being of special teachers who were working for students with disabilities at the special school.
The questionnaire with teaching commitment 15 items, compassion 30 items, and psychological well-being 24 items were developed for this study. The 426 special teachers were participated for this study. The questionnaire was analyzed by factor analysis and reliability. The results of this study were that: (a) The special teachers’ perceptions in teaching commitment, compassion, and psychological well-being factors were not differenced by the special teachers background variables; and (b) There were high relationships among teaching commitment, compassion, and psychological well-being factors; and (c) Special teachers’ teaching commitment and psychological well-being are mediated compassion, and the fit index of the model.
The special teachers’ teaching commitment had a structure to connect with compassion. And teaching commitment with compassion had to go psychological well-being, however teaching commitment had no explanation related with psychological well-being. Therefore this study concluded that the compassion was mediating effects to explain the relationship with teaching commitment and psychological well-being.
