This study investigated the level of satisfaction with department selection for 151 students majoring radiology in Daejeon. We analyzed the relevance between general characteristics, selection factors of department, clinical practice factors, curriculum of department and satisfaction with major choice.
The result are as follows.
1. Comparing the satisfaction with department selection and general characteristic, male was more satisfied than female. Also, college students were more satisfied than university students. Not only that, the more older, the more satisfaction is high and low grade indicates the satisfaction is high.
2. Comparing the selection factor of major, clinical practice factors, curriculum of department and satisfaction with department selection, preference and current factor has shown a significant difference in selection factor. Practice environment, practice guidance, practice time and evaluation, satisfaction after practice, occupation connection in clinical practice factors has shown significant differences. Curriculum construction, teaching and assessment by the professor, supporting facility, curriculum satisfaction in department curriculum factor has shown a significant difference.
3. The result of correlation between satisfaction with department selection and upon factor are the following results. Preference and current factor in selection factor of department has shown positive correlation. Besides, practice environment, practice guidance, practice time and evaluation, occupation connection in clinical practice factors has shown positive correlation. Curriculum construction, teaching and assessment by the professor, supporting facility, curriculum satisfaction in department curriculum factor has shown positive correlation.
4. To explain factors affecting the level of satisfaction with department selection, we have proceeded Multiple Regression Analysis. The higher preferences and the higher current factor in major selection factors, the higher satisfaction with department selection and explanatory power has shown 33.2%. Besides, The higher practice time and evaluation and the higher satisfaction after practice, the higher satisfaction with department selection and explanatory power has shown 65.0%. Among factors of department curriculum, the higher teaching and assessment factors by the professor, the higher satisfaction with department selection and explanatory power has shown 70.7%.
Among the selection factors of the department, preference and current factors, among the clinical practice factors, the training period and evaluation, satisfaction after the practice, Among the factors of department curriculum, teaching and assessment by the professor are affecting the level of satisfaction of major selection. In conclusion, The following factors should be taken into consideration when attracting students from schools and departments, counseling students, and directing employment.
