Objectives The aim of this study is to investigate eating habits, abnormal eating behavior, body image perception, and coexistence psychopathology in patients with bulimia nervosa. Methods Eating behavior, dietary habits and coexistence psychiatric pathology were examined 48 patients who met DSM-5 criteria for bulimia nervosa visited the eating disorder clinic of a university hospital in Seoul and 116 healthy women among the undergraduate and graduate students who were recruited at an women''s university in Seoul . Results The global score and subscales of EDE-Q were significantly higher in patients with bulimia nervosa than in the healthy women. The total score and subscales of DASS were significantly higher in patients with bulimia nervosa. The restrained eating scale and emotional eating scale of DEBQ were significantly higher in the patients with bulimia nervosa. The current figure scale and body image distortion scale were significantly in patients with bulimia nervosa. however the ideal figure scale were significantly lower difference. Conclusion In the present study, patients with bulimia nervosa showed a higher degree of emotional eating than healthy women and which ideally thinks of skinny body shape. These results suggest that emotional eating which is the core pathology of bulimia nervosa, and body image distortion should be a key subject in treatment of bulimia nervosa.
