The purpose of this study was to investigate the structural relationship among separation-individuation, public self-consciousness, rejection sensitivity, Ambivalence over Emotional Expressiveness and dependent depressive vulnerability, and find out mediating effect of public self-consciousness, rejection sensitivity, emotional expressive ambivalence between separation-individuation and dependency depressive vulnerability
The subjects of this study were 338 college students in Gyeongbuk area. The main analysis method was the structural equation model(SEM). bootstrap methods was used to verify the mediating effect, phantom variable was utilized for verification of indirect influence of a multi mediating effects. Lastly, multiple group analysis was performed to examine the differences in the structural relationship between male and female.
The major findings of this study are as follow.
First, ambivalence over emotional expressiveness increases when separation- individualization is low, and public self-consciousness mediates in this relationship.
Second, ambivalence over emotional expressiveness increases when separation- individuation is low, and rejection sensitivity mediates in this relationship.
Third, ambivalence over emotional expressiveness is fully mediated in the relationship between rejection sensitivity and dependency depression vulnerability.
Lastly, women may have a high dependent depressive vulnerability, even if they have a high level of separation-individuation.
This study has attempted to empirically verify the cause of dependenct depressive vulnerability through object relation theory. this study provided understanding of dependent depressive vulnerability. also, it has significant meaning that can be used as an empirical data to therapeutic intervention.
