Purpose: This study aims to confirm the awareness of automated external defibrillators (AED) about health-related versus non-health-related fields.
Methods: A total of 577 patients were evaluated for their awareness of the AED. Using the SPSS 23.0, the analysis was analyzed using descriptive statistics, chi-square test and the t-test.
Results: As a result of the survey on the awareness of the AED, 25.0% of students in health-related majoring and 38.6% of students in non-health-related majoring responded to "I have seen or heard" and "I don''t know". Among the subjects, 82.4% of the students in the health-related majoring and 88.1% of the non-health-related majoring students thought that the perception of the use of the AED was not universal. When we surveyed the subjects'' educational experience, 30.2% of the students in health-related majoring and 49.7% of students in non-health-related majoring were not educated. Comparing the total score of knowledge, the average of health-related majoring was 8.69 and the average of non-health-related majoring was 7.79.
Conclusion: In order to raise awareness of AED among health-related majoring and non-health-related majoring college students, basic education on the importance and necessity of continuous publicity and automatic cardiopulmonary by various media, I think it should be developed.
