ABSTRACT
Tamura in the Classical Literature of Korea and Japan
?Based on Tamua in the “Nihon-shoki”-

This paper investigates and analyzes the story of Tamura, in the 6th and 7th centuries in the “Nihon-shoki”. The story about Tamura is in the literature of Korea, China, and Japan, but articles about Tamura in the literature are varied. The Korean literature articles on Tamura include "Samguk-Sagi", "Samguk-Yusa" and "History of Goryeo". The name of the Tamura is known as the old name of Jeju Island. The first name of Jeju Island was ‘Danju’, and the name of the country was originally named ‘Danla’. The story of Tamura appeared in "Nihon-shoki"(Chronicles of Japan) from the Emperor Keitai to the Emperor Jito, and in chronological order, Emperor Keitai, Emperor Saimei, Emperor Tenchi, Emperor Tenmu, and Emperor Jito appeared in chronological order. Tamura''s envoy was strong when Emperor Tenmu ascended the throne. Around the same period, the international situation of the post-war era, such as the collapse of Baekje, was unprecedented. At that time, Tamura reportedly sent envoys to Japan to establish diplomatic relations with Japan by paying attention to Japan''s status as a target of tributes and trading.
