In the Republic of Korea, mountain streams is regarded as a object space of erosion control in order to minimize the mountainous sediment-related disasters. Mountain streams focuses on managing the production and transport of soil from a civil engineering perspective. In recent years, ecological approaches have been tried to change this viewpoint, but domestic studies that can support such efforts are rare. Therefore, in this study, the future trend of mountain streams considering the natural environment conditions and social needs in Korea is suggested by understanding research trends for mountain streams. The inhabit changes of fish and amphibian according to changes of hydrological, geomorphological and ecological factors were examined according to whether construction(before vs during/after) was installed. As a result, domestic research on mountain streams could be classified into four research areas with similar research themes. However, in comparison with international studies on fish and invertebrates, domestic researches only focused on large invertebrate. Compared with the studies on the bed material movement and topography changes by the flow water in the mountain streams, domestic research have focused that the sediment movement in the mountain streams, that is, the occurrence of the mountainous sediment-related disasters caused by mountain streams and responses in the noosphere rather than the production, migration and sedimentation mechanism. In addition, the interrelationships among the four research areas are very high in the international research, but the interrelationships are low in the domestic research, so it is necessary to hybrid research among research area.
As a part of the hybrid personality research, the changes of fish and amphibian species were investigated in the mountain stream of Kongju University experiment forest located in Seokjangri-dong, Gongju-si, Chungcheongnam-do, according to the check-dam construction. As a result, the environmental factors affecting the appearance of fish and amphibians are ''pH, electric conductivity, dissolved oxygen, flow of velocity, number of step-pool’ and ‘monthly rainfall, pH, electric conductivity, dissolved oxygen, and crown density’. As a result of examining the changes in environmental factors selected for check-dam construction(before vs during/after), the environmental factors except the dissolved oxygen and number of step-pool were statistically significant. As a result of the examining the changes in environmental factors selected for check-dam construction(before vs during/after) and upper and the lower sections, there was no statistically significant difference in the fish. However, the difference in the number of monthly appearance intervals was statistically found by the spawning period of the dominant species, Moroco oxycephalus. In addition, there was a difference in the number of monthly appearance intervals according to the spawning period and the transformation period according to the life history of the Rana rugosa, the dominant species of amphibians. There was no significant difference in the number of emergence sections in the upper segment, but there was a statistically significant difference in the lower segment due to the inflow of a large amount of soil from the check-dam construction depending on whether or not check-dam construction(before vs during/after).
In this study, although the study on population and ascending function of fish and amphibians was not carried out, the study on the disconnection of streams ecosystem due to the construction of closed-type check-dam should be carried out. In the case of open-type check-dams considering ecological permeability, it is necessary to compare the number of sections of fish and amphibians according to changes of environmental factors and to continuously monitor small parts.
