The purpose of this study is to find the compatibility between the Left-Right Tan pulse at Chon and Chuck in the Qikou pulse diagnosis and the Medical Theory of the Eight Extra Meridians. Several medical texts and papers were examined from the ancient to modern periods for this study.
Qikou pulse diagnosis is the only method to diagnosis the pathologic situation at the eight extra meridians. It divides the pulse position by 9 ways and each and other ways, it corresponds to 12 main meridian and eight extra meridians. The pulse is also different from the original pulse. It shows floating pulse(浮脈), tense pulse(緊脈), noe pulse(牢脈), left-right tan pulse(左右彈脈), oblique pulse(斜上), and this shows where the negative energy is.
Yang-gyo vessel and Yin-gyo vessel both proceed along the side of the body. Yang-gyo vessel and Yin-gyo vessel is very closley related to Wi-gi. When Wi-gi is at Yang part of the body, Yang-gyo vessel is filled. When Wi-gi is at Yin part of the body, Yin-gyo vessel is filled. Wi-gi goes through the body differently during day and night. So, it controls the sleep and awakeness. If Wi-gi’s circulation goes wrong, it effects Yang and Yin-gyo vessel. This occurs sleeping problem.
This pathological situation can be diagnosed by Qikou pulse diagnosis. When chon position show left-right tan pulse, it means negative energy is at Yang-gyo vessel. Also, when chuck position show left-right tan pulse, it means negative energy is at Ying-gyo vessel.
By analyzing the circulation of the Wi-gi and its relation with Yang gyo vessel and Yin-gyo vessel, the reason why left-right tan pulse shows at chon and chuck position was found.
From this study, one can develop the meaning of the Qikou pulse diagnosis and go further to use acupuncture and medicine to treat eight extra meridians.
