Recently, due to the reduction of safety factor and increase
of long span members with a reduced section by the defined
design method in the process of structural design, the
effects of torsion in structural members should not be
neglected. This paper aims to examine torsional theories
and two design method based on the ACI 318-77 CODE by
the examination of relation between torsional stiffness
and torsional moment. Accordingly to the specification of
KSCE, torsional reinforcement in the spandrel member of
the statically indeterminate structure is evaluated
respectively by the two design methods. As a result, a
resonable design method is suggested.
