The purpose of this study is to develop computer programs which
can be used to determine immediately the economic member sizes of
reinforced concrete structures, to integrate structural analysis,
analysis plotting, member design, cost estimation, and drawing
work into one working system, and to develop final drawings which
can be used directly on construction sites by computer aided
design system.
This study will substantially contribute to the advancement of
design technology by improving structural design as a speedy
precision work, by accumulating design technology, and by
facilitating the use of CAD system for structural design.
The computer programs are developed for structural analysis,
analysis plotting, member design, cost estimation, and structural
drawing for frame structures as one working system. They are
developed on the basis of the practical equations for member
sections obtained from the analysis of economic sizes of
individual structural elements.
The design criteria for reinforced concrete structures are based
on working stress design methods and ultimate strength design
methods.
