The aim of this thesis is to examine the poetical effects and the phase of dramatic expressions by a study of the structure of discourse of Kim so-wol's poems which contain multilayered and complicated tone. For the aim of this thesis, I will analyze an phase of changes that occur in a unit poem between speaker and hearer. As a result of study, his poems produce multilayered tone by frequent changes of speaker and hearer, although in a unit poem, and occasionally introduce dramatic speaking style which is that the fictitious-plural characters say to each other. It is evaluated that Kim so-wars poems accomplish the poetical effects which give the variety in spreading out of poetic sensibility and entrust his subjective emotion to characters in his poems or describe objectively by the changes of pluralistic discourse structure and tone. Kim So-Wol's poems show methodological directivity of his literal works in creating poems that is to obtain dramatic tension overcoming fixed romantic forms which are the soliloquy of unitary self.
Through this study, the characteristic of Kim So-Wol' poems inform us that he had an independent aptitude against romantic style in those days and realized the process of formalization and style of an art. In the 1920's, it was a transition period when Korean modernstyle poetry didn't get out of confusion of a poetical manner yet. At that time, the sentimentalism of poetical consciousness and a diffuse style reflected those time's limits very well. Nowadays, it is important facts in an aspect of realizing methodology of the modem poetry that he showed multilayered discourse structure and the phase of dramatic expressions in his poems.
