This paper is mainly concerned with the state-of-the art practical development of a constant HF phase-shifted PWM bridge type resonant DC-DC suitable converter for X-ray high-power generator with a DSP-based controller.
This converter effectively makes the best of the inherent lumped parasitic resonant LC circuit components incorporated into the high-voltage HF transformer and input-side equivalent parasitic capacitance of the high-voltage feeding cable in place of DC output smoothing filter. This parallel resonant converter with X-ray tube load is analyzed through the computer-aided simulation. Its voltage regulation characteristics in steady-state and the dynamic performances are illustrated with a generic method and discussed along with the operating characteristics of series and parallel resonant-tank converter topology.
The trially-produced set-up using new power semiconductor devices/modules for X-ray power generator is investigated including new DSP-based voltage control technology which in­troduce the modern control theory from an experimental and a practical point of view.
