In 1962, Construction supervision system was introduced in our construction industry. At this time, the construction supervision system was conducted by only architects without distinction between the public sector and the private sector. In 1994, especially, in order to prevent fraudulent work and improve the construction quality, our government has put the construction supervision system into force.
The objective of this research is to suggest the future plan of the supervision systems based on the performance results and analysis of the supervision system. According to the results of this research, the supervision system market is approximately 900 billion in terms of Korea Currency, won, and the technical experts who is capable of the supervision systems amount to approximately 26,000. Also, this system might achieve accomplishment to some extent in terms of the prevention of fraudulent work and the improvement of construction quality.
However, this system in terms of accomplishment assessment was evaluated as 64.8 among 100 points. It is indicated that there is still problem related to the insufficient skill of supervisors. It is also difficult to apply the supervision systems considering the owners circumstance and the scale of project because the selection of projects which the supervision system should be applied for is decided by the project scale. Especially, it is difficult for owner to select the one out of various supervision systems because of the lack of detail operation standard in construction supervision system.
Therefore, this paper suggests the improved plan of the public supervision system in order to solve problems identified by the performance results and analysis of the existing construction supervision system; (ⅰ) various future plan of construction supervision system, (ⅱ) the educational plan for construction supervisors, and (ⅲ) the improvement plan in the selection of construction supervision companies.
