We Korean people communicated by processing or using Chinese characters in ancient times, carrying on our own writing system with the creation of Hangul in middle ages. Later we defended the National Language against Japanese Imperialism. Since the division of Korean peninsula in 1945, South Korea has unfolded the National Language Purification Movement, while North Korea has lead the Cultured Language Movement. If the two language movements get integrated dialectically, we could formulate a Philosophy of Development of the National Language. The Philosophy of Development of the National Language indicates a meta-theory for developing word-formation rooted in the linguistic inheritance in Korean and the writing skill toned with the Korean. Furthermore, it could make a basis for establishing the identity of language culture to prepare for the Information Age. The writer proposes that we integrate our divided language culture by unfolding the pan National Language Purification Movement based on the Philosophy of Development of the National Language.
