The Effect of Family Background on Physical Child Abuse

Report Errors

This study assesses the effect on physical child abuse of family backgrounds including family income, poverty and family structure. This data come from the family health research and the fertility around the country in 2000 conducted by Korean Institute for Health and Social Affair and especially exercise 1476 household including children under 7 years of age who live with both two parents (or a single parent) to apply to analysis. Results show that family income and poverty have a statistically significant association with physical child abuse. But family structure hasn't a significant association with physical abuse. Findings from this study suggest the societal support for poor families contributes to preventing physical child abuse.
