Mask is a sort of especial primary culture, it came into being antiquity agcs and has been going round widcly in Yunnan folk, up to the present .For the sort of mask, many scholar advanced profitable view. According as a lot of fieldwork information and culture function of mask, Author will divide numerous and complicated mask into totem mask, jumping spirit mask, drama mask, life ritual mask ,festival fete mask and guard house mask.
It's texture is very, abundant in making and carving mask, not only the mask have a sorts of mask of woodcarving, clay-molding, Paper painting, bamboo lashing and cloth backing, but also bamboo, short shell, pig bladder, grass plait, Palm hull, edelweiss bag or gunny bag, gourd painting, etc. In special habitation, some masks、sculpt are very oddity, it are only thrown about by hand and aren't pull on in the face, for example, Yi people's broadsword-dancing mask. Some masks are only hung in the doorhead, for acting as apotropaion and enjoying a life of comfort, for examplc, the great mass of mask. We can peek different aesthetic object, aesthetic psychology, and extraordinarγ capacity of creativity and expression of art in Yunnan ethnic.
