If we try tensile test of rubber, stress-strain relation has actually hysterisis mechanism. In other words, if a visco-elastic material at rest is suddenly subjected to a constant strain rate. the stress will increase gradually to approach asymptotically the exact value. We call its time dependent quality as visco-elasticity, the material as visco-elastic material. Rubber has nonlinear hyper visco-elastic characteristics.
So, the purpose of this paper is, first, to clarify the characteristics of stress relaxation in swaging process during hose manufacturing, and second, to analyze the relationship between cycling stress by brake motion due to the repeated steering motion and stress relaxation, and finally, to get the technology of forecasting the life expectation period of rubber brake hose by visco-elasticity point of view.
This paper presents theoretic analysis of visco-elasticity and stress relaxation. With test results, we could get the property of visco-elasticity. Using the material properties and numerical computer simulation, we find out the result of visco-elastic characteristics of rubber and braided yam rubber hose. This visco-elastic analysis technology can help predict the life cycle of rubber hose. We are going to do this research further. The result will be helpful to design good brake hose scientifically. which help good brake system design.
