The aims of urban planning in both the Republic of Korea and the Federal Republic of Germany are very similar. There are, however, differences between them in the means and methods of urban planning to achieve these aims.
The relevant characteristics of both systems are outlined in the following sections and the organization of urban-planning in the Republic of Korea and in the Federal Republic of Germany are illustrated in two diagrams respectively. Because of their close links with urban planning a number of terms of regional policy have been included in this volum.
Urban planning is a young branch of public affairs and is developing rapidly. For that reason it was considered necessary to give somewhat more extensive reference than may be found in other volumes of this series and furthermore to supplement those with diagrams.
