This paper aims common similitudes between principle of Hunminjungeum's invention and Liu-shu(Six Categories of Chinese Characters), so as to make clear one of the stage of Hunminjungeum's invention. The two phrases as ‘字倣古篆’ from ‘Record of Sejong 25(A.D.1443)’ and ‘Xiang-xing(象形 pictographs)’ from ‘Hunminjungeum’ which had brought elenchus however paradoxically guarantees the first step to explanation.
By that two phrases, we can understand that the character’s shape of Hunminjeongeum motivated from certain character(maybe Chinese characters) that already existed and was completed by attaching the principle of pictograph.
As the method of pictograph origines from Chinese characters, according to that point, in Hunminjeongeum, the principle of another Liu-shu(six categories of Chinese characters) could be also adopted besides the principle of pictograph. They will be Xiang-Xing(象形 pictographs), Zhi-shi(指事 logograms) and Hui-yi(會意 compound ideographs). The method of pictographs was adopted to the vowels and consonants of basic letters, and the method of logograms was adopted to the stroke addition of consonants and first appearance(초출자) of vowels and the method of combined letters was adopted to compound(복합자).
