The ways of interpreting Song poetry of the annotations in the Song Dynasty are composed of to arrange works in chronological order, to compile a chronicle of the writer's life, and to search the background of the composition of the poem. These methods are based on the thinking of chronological history, the theory of "reading poetry as history" and "to explain poetry works contrasting historical materials". And these prove that historical points of view are at the core of interpreting poetic text. The annotations of Song poetry in the Song Dynasty constructed the first interpretation pattern in the history of interpreting Song poetry, and showed the prevalent perspective on Song poetry in those times, which is influencing our understanding of Song poetry till present.
