This article revisits Paul's theological and rhetorical argumentations on justification by faith as presented in Galatians 1-2 to interrogate the traditional understanding of Pauline scholarship on the universal meaning of justification by faith. As an effort to practice the ethics of interpretation against the dominant interpretation of Paul's universalism as difference-free Christian universalism, it deals with the question of equal status between Jews and Gentiles by bringing a distinct angle to the fore, namely, the problem of equality and difference. My interpretation focuses on a contextual reading of Jew-Gentile difference in Galatians 1-2 and argues for an emancipatory meaning of justification of difference in Paul's politics of difference. This article ends with some implications that a liberative hermeneutics of inclusion in Paull's politics of difference may have for the transformation of Korean and Korean-American Christianity.
