Autonomous local governments provide their residents with administrative information and regional news through their internet web pages. However, in reality. electronic mail, bulletin boards. and electronic payment services are not fully utilized and a network system connecting subdivisions of autonomous local governments needs to be more efficiently managed and established. Therefore, this study aimed to examine the residents' satisfaction level on the website managed by autonomous government offices. A government-managed website is one the most basic forms of information technology that can make an electronic government come true. The four areas of positive assessment included the coefficient of utilization, the coefficient of convenience. the coefficient of expectation, and the level of technology. An overall satisfaction rate was computed from data collected from the subjects residing in the regions located in the city of Taequ, Korea.
Theoretical discussion included the literature review, the definition and purposes of an electronic government, and its relationship with satisfaction rate of citizens. 'l-test. Analysis of variance(ANOVA), and Frequency Analysis were employed for the analysis of data. T-test and F-test were used to examine the significance level. The data showed a relatively high interest level of the residents, coefficient of convenience, level of technology and coefficient of expectation toward the website managed by local governments. However. the overall satisfaction rate was low. This implies that residents have a relatively low coefficient of utilization. Possible factors for the results of the study are the low interest level of residents, the inadequacy utilizing information technology, the mentalities that reject modern information technology, and the insufficiency of public education provided by the local government. There is an urgent need for a more efficient information network between the central government and its regional residents, as well as between regional governments and its regional residents. Therefore, any future government policies related to the development of an electronic government need to address this important aspect of user satisfaction.
