This research is about the reasons of the stress of high school hockey players. Especially, I try to find out the differences of stress-factors methods, according to sex, age, sports career, team level of male or female team. The scope of the subject of my research is as follows: three teams who won 1st, 2nd, or 3rd prize, in Spring 2000 male female hockey championship, and three male teams and three female teams which were rejected in an elimination match. So it comes to 161 people in total 86 men and 75 women.
The following outcome resulted from the above research.
1) Reasons which affect women more than men are the followings: family, what to do after finishing school-related matter, audience, opposite team, game schedule and procedure, seniors, comrades, juniors, leaders, food, jet lag, team meeting, negative thinking and physical condition, technique, injury during the game, fatigue during the game, communication during the game, and the result of the game. The aboe factors are in rank order.
2) The differences in stress-factors according to the career are as followings. The players of 3year of lesss than 3year career are more stressed by seniors, dormitory life, and jet lag, than other groups. The players of 4year career are stressed primarily by sleeping. The players of 5year career showed no idiosyncracy.
3) The high level male team showed no idiosyncracy. On the other hand, the low level male team members are stressed by the following factors: family, boy or girl friends, school-related matter, audience, opposite team, the facilities of the sports stadium, tools and equipment, dormitory life, food, jet lag, team meeting, technique, strategical training, and communication during the game.
4) The high level female team members are stressed by the personal factors such as what to do after finishing school-related matter, opposite team, game schedule and procedure, and the decision of the referee. They are also stressed by seniors, leaders, dormitory life, physical fatigue during the game, and the game result. On the other hand, the low level female team members are stressed highly by school-related matter.
