The purpose of this study was to analysis and compare to the value orientations toward physical education classes of highschool teachers. The subjects of this study were 120 presevice teachers in the department of elementary physical education of K university and 180 inservice teachers and province of Kyungsangnamdo. Value Orientation Inventory of Ennis and Hooper. The conclusions of this study based on the result of the data analysis were follows.
Firstly, the value orientation of the elementary teachers by the teacher types had differences in disciplinary mastery, self-actualization. In other words, the peservice teachers gave relatively more value on self-actualization and ecological integration than inservice teachers, and the inservice teachers placed relatively more value on disciplinary mastery and learning process than perservice teachers.
Secondly, the value orientation of the elementary teachers by their teaching experience had some differences in the teachers who have the 1~5 year teaching experiences and the 6~15 year teaching experiences and the 15 or more year of experiences put relatively more value on self-actualization than the all careering teachers. Generally the elementary teachers gave the highest priority on the ecological integration, the lowest priority in the social reconstruction.
Thirdly, the value orientation of the elementary teachers by their skill grade had differences in self-actualization. In other words, female teachers and mail teachers gave the highest priority on the self-actualization. And female teachers gave the lowest priority in the disciplinary mastery. mail teachers gave the lowest priority ecological integration.
