This essay focuses on the present situation and problems of Korean Literary research in China. The time period can be divided into two as the time before the open-door reformation(1949~1978) and the time after the open-door reformation(1978~2000). At the time before the reformation, mainly the literary works of North Korea were introduced and after that the introduction of the works of South Korea followed.
A starting point was the Seoul Olympic and the publishing 〈Dictionary for the Literary Arts of Chosun〉 in 1992 made a turning point. After establishing a research center for the Chosun Literature in 1897, many Korean literary societies have been established in China. Korean dramas televized in China since the year of 2000 have attracted many Chinese people. Along with this hot wind of 'Hanryu' the translations of Korean literary works have been activated although the works are mainly popular ones rather than the pure artistic literary works.
In China, about 60 colleges open the Koran language classes at present. Especially Korean people living in Yonbyon made a literary circle of high level as a literary meeting of Chosun people. Generally, however, the research of Korean literature in China remains still in the level of beginning. If the special publishing companies for the artistic literary works are established in China and the support of Korean government are to be continued, the future of Korean literature in China would be very bright.
