It has been a global trend that both central and local governments are pouring efforts in hosting various sport events as they surely believe that sport events will be bringing out social, cultural and economic benefits into the host nations and cities. With this in mind, this study was initiated to examine residents' perceived benefits of hosting a regional sport event by their personal characteristics. To this end, a survey methodology was applied with 400 residents around a host city area. With a total of 367 completed questionnaires, descriptive statistics, t-test and one way ANOVA were conducted at significance level of .05. and following findings were derived from this study. First, male group had a significantly higher level of perceived economic benefits of hosting a sport event than the counterpart. Second, a group of 31 to 40 years had a significantly higher level of perceived economic benefits than other groups. Third, a group of salary men had a significantly higher level of perceived cultural benefits than house wives. Fourth, college graduates had significantly higher levels of both perceived cultural and economic benefits than high school graduates. Fifth, a group with over 3,010,000 monthly income had the highest perceived social, cultural and economic benefits. Groups of accommodation and entertainment business had significantly higher levels of all perceived benefits of hosting a sport event. Seventh, a group of frequent sport activity participants had significantly higher levels of all perceived benefits. Finally, a group of sport event volunteers had a significantly higher level of all perceived benefits than non volunteers. The aforementioned findings were discussed in depth on the basis of previous research.
