This article describes a test of a proposed model explaining how Clawson and Knetschs’ concept of the five phases of recreation trips can be applied to tourism trips. The model was tested with Korean participants in two domestic tour groups. Data were collected in both the on-site and travel-back phases of the group tours, using two panel samples (n=175 and n=73, respectively). Path analysis partially confirmed the proposed model, with expressive and instrumental performance both positively affecting on-site trip satisfactions, expressive performance also positively affecting both the recollection and travel-back phases of the trip, on-site phase evaluations positively affecting travel-back phase satisfactions, which in turn affect recollection-phase satisfactions, and that both travel-back phase and recollection-phase satisfaction affect revisit intentions.
