The subject topic of this thesis is about the original meaning and structure of "?(long)", bone characters. Bone characters ?? for long "dragon" is based on the shape of a snake. As of the ?? on the top, different scholars have different opinions. While some say that it is the "horn of the dragon," others argue that it is the "crest of the dragon." However, my research shows that the ?? character in bone characters is most similar to the script of ?? (王wang). Moreover, since there is a correlationship of meaning between "dragon" and "king," this thesis strives to offer a new analysis and interpretation of the character "dragon."
While the main graph of "dragon" character is a snake, that add a symbol to the character to indicate power or sovereignty, thus inventing the character for the imaginary dragon. This is the gist and conclusion of this thesis. To ground the argument of this analysis, this thesis uses the methodology of subversion which invents or forms characters, found in the examples of bone characters.
