This is to study the textiles and patterns of the western costumes in Netherlands,
England and France which flourished in the 17th century.
The study showed that:
In early 17th century, costume textiles were damask, satin, velvet, silk, cotton and gobelin. In mid period, there were brocade, satin, damask, velvet, wool, silk and cotton. In late period, there were velvet, satin, silk, damask and cotton.
Textile patterns were a combination of plants and birds, plants, flowers, ware decorations, knots and pomegranate shapes, of which flowery patterns were distinct.
They were influenced by the Baroque, having harmony in disharmony, and also splendid and smooth feeling in curved lines and various colors.
