The study aims to figure out how modern ideologies from the west were introduced by Gaebyeok leadersin early 1920s. Nietzsche, Rousseau and James were based on Modern Ideology Vol. 16 while Ellen Key, Russell and Carpenter were based on Eight Thinkers’ Theory of Social Reorganization.
Gi-jeon Kim introduced the view of world and human-beings based on Nietzsche, politics and economy based on Rousseau, philosophy based on James and theory of social reorganization. In the meantime, Ja-young Roh and Sa-jik Park introduced Ellen Key and Carpenter, but in case of Ellen Key, the view of women was summarized, and incase of Carpenter, the theory of art was more emphasized than the theory of social reorganization.
Following twocharacteristics were found in the way six modern thinkers were introduced. First, ‘translated introduction’ through Japan was found. Second, redundant areas were omitted or summarized in introducing people for whom the same quotation was used.
