This paper discussed the understanding of Lee Kyubo(李奎?) to the Late Tang literator, as an objective point, meanwhile the onesideness of his knowledge has been discussed as well. Therefore, before his knowledge was formed, this paper has discussed Lee Kyubo's literature knowledge before Late Tang.
Lee Kyubo's understanding to Late Tang before focused on the affirmative side of it. First of all, he esteemed Chen Zi'ang(陳子昻) and ‘ChuTangSiJie(初唐四傑)' who was the representative poet of Early Tang literary area, positively supported their literature position. He esteemed Li Bai(李白) and Du Fu(杜甫) who were at Prime Tang poetry area, commended their great literature achievement. He esteemed Han Yu(韓愈), Liu Zongyuan(柳宗元), Bai Juyi(白居易) and the other people of Middle Tang literary area, focused on developments of their understanding of 'Wen(文)'.
Lee Kyubo has the denial look on the Late Tang literary area. He didn't have some criticism on Late Tang writer's work, but payed attention on characteristic of aestheticism of Late Tang literature which appeared in the literature ideological trend, and had some evaluation on it. But The 'Historical Poetry' Lee Kyubo created followed the creation tendency and characteristic of Late Tang's poets. Simultaneously, if observed from subject matter of 'YongShi(詠史)', we could know relation fully which Lee Kyubo once learned Late Tang Du Mu(杜牧)'s work from criticize view. Their creation methods on poems showed the same literature characteristic of 'Qi(氣)' in subject and 'Yi(意)' in content. Although there existed the difference between them, they had the intercommunity in literation position.
From this point, Lee Kyubo has the duality regarding on the Late Tang literature understanding. He understood the Late Tang literature by exclusive view, only for the revealment of characteristic which appeared in literature history. But from the view of 'YongShi' work and literature creation, Late Tang writer Du Mu had a few influences on Lee Kyubo. At the same time, Lee Kyubo follows Du Mu's literature creation and the position, he strengthened these literature achievement and developed a new world on himself.
