The purpose of this thesis is to identify the possibility of popularizing philosophy through newspaper on the basis of ?The Study on Korean Newspapers Published During the Period of the Japanese Imperialism? carried out by the Research Team for Modern Korean Thoughts, Yeungnam University.
It is true that in the present time with an explosive increase of mass media, newspaper is still the most influential and reliable media in the world.
Actually the present time provides humane studies, including philosophy, with better environments for communication with the mass society through mass media than the Period of the Japanese Imperialism when the intellectual have actively did their intellectual activities through newspaper.
It has been frequently pointed out that one of the most important reasons that humane studies is at a crisis is failure to communicate with the public.
This thesis shows that attempting to convert the messages of humane studies, including philosophy, into contents that the public can understand easily and using newspaper as a means of actively communicating with the public can be an way out of the present crisis of humane studies.
