Research on compound verb in Japanese language has been approached from various perspectives. As a result, the history of establishment of compound verbs, characteristics of meanings and structure and classification of compound verbs has clearly been verified.
However, the compound verbs in current Japanese language system are constantly changing based on previous patterns. Accordingly, it is necessary to investigate what kinds of differences are found from those of the previous forms of compound verbs, what expression forms are utilized, and what patterns of changes are inherent in current Japanese language system.
A compound verb is an integrated word representing an object or an image(事象). Even though an object or an image is not changed, there may exist some differences in perspectives on the premise. A compound verb being composed of three or four verbs is thought to be a word established based on those different perspectives. A compound verb being composed of three or four verbs is thought to be a word implies that there may exist some diverse expression patterns based on different perceptions on starting point and ending point.
A compound verb being composed of three or four verbs is thought to be a word is a integrated expression form based on omitting "「て」". This integrating structure can be considered as an expression form displaying two different objects or images into a single object or image. In other words, by omitting「て」objects or images which can be seen as two objects or images can be expressed not only as a concurrent single object or image, it also makes it possible express more effectively by specifying a scene or situation more distinctively. One of many structural characteristics of newly established compound verbs is represented by "omission of the middle parts of the whole process". The integrated structure established by omitting「て」is considered as an important clue in identifying the internal structure of the newly established compound verbs with「て」omitted. Therefore, the structural characteristics of a compound verb being composed of three or four verbs has a significant meaning in a sense that it helps gain our understandings on the process of newly established compound verbs in current Japanese language system.
