It has been widely acknowledged in Korea that the South-South conflict is the main concern in the public space since it is easily propagated with other issues, especially the generational and regional conflict. The term “South-South conflict” is coined under the consideration upon the “South-North” conflict. As seen the South-North Summit and the concomitant declaration afterwards, it is not always the case that the mitigation the South-North conflict can ameliorate the South-South conflict.
The underlying causes of the South-South conflict deter the constructive discussion in the public domain. The suggested solution for the conflict may be in the reduction in the tensions from regionalism and anti-communism. For the solution to be available, the Short-Termism and arbitrary partisan bias should be tamed.
