This new millenium faces a great challenge to shift our way of thinking. Particularly Korean Sungkyul (Holiness) Church faces also a great challenge from our living secular world.
In this way, we Sungkyul Christians must adopt a new way to think and live. The fourfold Gospel of Sungkyul Church leads us how to live in this secular world.
This is to say˙ that the fourfold gospel is a practical tool to overcome our challenging secular world. This eassay will discuss the meaning of Sungkyul theology(the doctrine of Holiness) in terms of John Wesley’s theology.
The primary theological point of Sungkyul Theology is the doctrine of the holiness which is related to the baptism of the Holy Spirit. This means the regeneration which takes place at the moment of believing Jesus Christ as the Saviour.
Then a believer will be able to be sanctified by the Holy Spirit. The power of the Holy Spirit is central in the theology of John Wesley, and it also prevails among the followers of Wesley. On the other hand. this theological point is also central in Sungkyul theology.
The theoogy of the Holy Spirit must be re-modeled in this 21st century in order to have another spiritual revival. In Sungkyul theology, the power of the Holy Spirit gives the awareness of the morlity and ethical thinking in the eyes of God. The concept of the Holy Spirit is important for us to reject the prevailing approaches toward the acceptance of human duplication and natural destruction.
