This paper aimed to discover the acceptance and dissemination of vocabulary, namely geographical names on the geographical books on the world from late 19th century to early 20th century. This paper examined books such as 《易言》, 《이언》, 《사민필지》, 《士民必知》, 《西遊見聞》, 《小學萬國地誌》, 《泰西新史》, 《태서신사(太西新史諺譯)》, 《독립신문》, 《中等萬國地誌》, 《中等萬國新地誌》, 《中等外國地理》. In the late 19th century, geographical names were usually accented from China and Japan. However in the early 20th century, they were directly accepted from the Occident. This change of acceptance path influenced geographical names. In the late 19th century, there were mostly geographical names which were written by Chinese characters and accepted from China and Japan. However, they were changed to geographical names which were written by Korean characters and directly accepted from the Occident in the early 20th century. In this process, inconsistent geographical names of the late 19th century, especially ones written by Chinese characters became consistent because geographical names written by Korean characters were generalized.
