The propose of this study is to investigate the difference among isokinetic muscular strength on left shoulder joint and trunk and to compare them with their driver swing speed between professional golfers and amateur golfers.
Subjects are classified into two groups: professional golfers group(n=5) who are the members of Korea Professional Golf Association(KPGA), and amateur golfers group(n=5) who are the members of Korea Collegiate Golf Association(KCGA), and all of them belongs to H University’s golf team. They participated in measuring of isokinetic muscular strength of left shoulder joint and trunk by an angle velocity in 60˚/sec(five times), 180˚/sec(five times) and the measured data was analyzed with independent t-test by SPSS exclusively among two groups.
The Correlation analysis was operated to verify the relation between each isokinetic muscular strength and golf driver swing speed, and stepwise multiple regression analysis was operated to verify the influence of isokinetic muscular strength to golf driver swing speed. They were examined and compared with the following results:
1. Shoulder joint peak torque and peak torque per body weight between two groups
At the peak torque, there was no significant difference in any angle velocity on the left shoulder's adduction abduction.
At the peak torque per body weight, there was a significant difference(p<.05) when 240˚/sec on the left shoulder's adduction.
2. Trunk peak torque and peak torque per body weight between two groups
At the peak torque, there was no significant difference in any angle velocity on the trunk's flectionㆍextension.
At the peak torque per body weight, there was a significant difference(p<.05) when every angle velocity on the trunk's extension.
3. Golf driver swing speed analysis result between two groups
At the golf driver swing speed, there was a significant difference(p<.05) between two groups and the professional golfers had higher speed than amateur group..
4. Interrelations between professional golfer's left shoulder isokinetic muscular strength(60˚/sec) and golf driver swing speed
The correlation analysis resulted that there was no significant difference between the left shoulder's adduction, abduction peak torque, and peak torque per body weight and two group’s golf driver swing speed. Similarly, multiple regression analysis resulted that the left shoulder's adduction, abduction peak torque, and peak torque per body weight did not statistically influence on two group’s golf driver swing speed.
5. Interrelations between professional golfer's left shoulder isokinetic muscular strength(180˚/sec) and golf driver swing speed
Same with result above 4.
The correlation analysis resulted that there was no significant difference between the left shoulder's adductionㆍabduction peak torque and peak torque per body weight and two group’s golf driver swing speed. Similarly, multiple regression analysis resulted that the left shoulder's adduction, abduction peak torque and peak torque per body weight did not statistically influence on two group’s golf driver swing speed.
6. Interrelations between professional golfer's trunk isokinetic muscular strength(60˚/sec) and golf driver swing speed
In correlation analysis, a significant difference(p<.05, p<.01) between the trunk's flection, extension peak torque and golf driver swing speed appeared as well as the trunk's flection, extension peak torque influenced on golf driver swing speed(p<.01) in multiple regression analysis
7. Interrelations between professional golfer's trunk isokinetic muscular strength(180˚/sec) and golf driver swing speed
In correlation analysis, a very significant difference(p<.001) between the trunk's flection, extension peak torque and golf driver swing speed appeared as well as the trunk's flection, extension peak torque remarkably influenced on golf driver swing speed(p<.001) in multiple regression analysis
