This study has inquired into the 〈Geumseongak〉's relationship with the 〈Jangduyoungjeon〉, and the 〈Jangpungunjeon〉, and also the change and meaning of its different versions. The objects of this study are nine copies of 〈Geumseongak〉 in Chinese composition, three copies of 〈Jangduyoungjeon〉 and 19 copies of 〈Jangpungunjeon〉.
As the result of the inquiry based on the Wanpan edition of 36 leaves and the Gyungpan edition of 31 leaves from 〈Ceumseongak〉 in the possession of the national library of Korea, and 〈Jangduyoungjeon〉 in the possession of Park Soon-ho, and different versions of 〈Jangpungunjeon〉, I have found that there is an identity of structure, the main contents, the central characters and a similarity of quantity allotment in their literature structure.
Through those facts it is understood that 〈Jangpungunjeon〉 was a different version of 〈Ceumseongak〉.
Based on above conclusion, from manuscripts within the Kim Dong-wook collection's 42 leaves edition and other presumptive evidences, I have assumed the 〈Jangpungunjeon〉 in Chinese composition could connect 〈Ceumseongak〉 with 〈Jangpungunjeon〉 in Korean literature.
Therefore I can classify the different versions of 〈Ceumseongak〉 into four groups; 〈Geumseongak〉 in Chinese composition and its translated editions 〈Jangduyoungjeon〉 and 〈Jangpungunjeon〉 in Chinese composition that were derived from 〈Geumseongak〉 and its translated editions, 〈Jangpungunjeon〉. From the precise study into 〈Jangpungunjeon〉 in the Korean literature group, I can classify it into Kim Dong-Wook collection's edition of 42 leaves group, the Gyungpan edition of 31 leaves group, and the Wanpan edition of 36 leaves group. I have also learned that the Gyungpan edition of 31 leaves group and the Wanpan edition of 36 leaves group were derived from Kim Dong-Wook collection's edition of 42 leaves group.
Finally, I have examined the changing procedure and the meaning of the different versions of 〈Ceumseongok〉 from the point of the old story's circulation structure shown in the Banggak edition's publication and popularizing procedure. I also have looked into the reason why the 〈Jangpungunjeon〉 group showed more diversity than the 〈Jangduyoungjeon〉 group through the characteristics of the publication of a story in the Banggak editions. Considering interest and economical efficiency, 〈Jangpungunjeon〉 was the best choice for publishers because it not only contained the substantial material of 〈Ceumseongak〉 but also was reduced in quantity by omission and abbreviation. Interest satisfies the readers and economical efficiency the publisher's needs. As a result, old printed books and transcripted books have appeared. It had mainly been the Gyungpan edition of 31 leaves group that has ensured the interest by emphasis on affairs with character, and the Wan pan edition of 36 leaves group which has ensured the interest by maximization of dramatic scenes. In conclusion, the 〈Geumseongak〉 in Chinese composition has changed to different versions of the 〈Jangpungunjeon〉 group, so has come to ensure more readers. It was an inevitable consequence resulting from mass-oriented publication and the old story's circulation structure.
