The purpose of this study was to analyze the start value and deduct distribution of men's floor exercise in the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. For accomplishing this purpose, the participants were male 132 gymnasts who participated in the floor exercise(team qualification, team final, all-around final, apparatus final). The researcher and co-researcher videotaped all of men's floor exercise competitions and analyzed and obtained start value and deduct distribution again. And also the reseaㄱchers used data on the start value and deduction provided from the FIG. Finally, both data obtained by videotaping and from the FIG were used for the purpose of this study.
First, the start value distribution ranged from 4.50 to 6.90 in team qualification (1st competition), was from 5.70 to 6.70 in team final (4th competition), ranged from 5.50 to 6.50 in all-around final (2nd competition) and was from 6.30 to 6.70 in apparatus final (3rd competition). Apparatus final showed the lowest distribution of the start value while team qualification had the largest distribution of the start value.
Second, deduct distribution in team qualification was from 0.600 to 2.300, team final was from 0.700 to 1.700, all-around final was from 0.700 to 1.800 and apparatus final was 0.700 to 2.100 on average, respectively. Team final showed the lowest deduct distribution when compared to other competition. On the other hand, team qualification showed distribution of the widest deduction.
