The purpose of this study was to analyze characteristics of demographic statistics and sports participation of middle school students, to gather the effects on self-regulated learning ability and emotional intelligent. The questionnaires were distributed to 425 students in five middle schools and regression analysis was performed by SPSS/Win Ver 12.0. First, no differences in self-regulated learning ability based on gender, merely female students showed higher scores in emotional appraisal and emotional expression. Depending on different academic years, showed higher self-regulated learning ability and emotional intelligent. The monthly income of the parents of students statistically significant differences were found in empathy, thinking facilitation and application of emotional knowledge in emotional intelligence and the education level of fathers of students showed differences in self-regulation, a sub-factor of self-regulated learning ability. Second, participated students showed higher, compared to ones who did not participate, in ability to recognize and express emotions, to facilitate thinking, to apply emotional knowledge, and to regulation feelings. Third, relations between self-regulated learning ability and emotional intelligent is strong and the higher use of cognitive strategy, the more affects on ability to recognize, express emotions, to empathize, to facilitate thinking and to apply emotional knowledge were shown.
