I study the characteristics of Korean classifiers in terms of numeration. Korean Classifiers behave slightly different from those of typical numeral classifier languages. But in spite of these differences, Korean language can be regarded as one of numeral classifier languages because Korean classifier constructions are most acceptable ones and have no restriction whatsoever for expressing number of nouns comparing alternative ones. Also Korean has a group of classifiers, so-called ‘Mung-chi classifiers’, to numerate countable nouns and uncountable nouns in a same measure which other typical numeral classifier languages also cross linguistically have in common. They have other peculiar morphological and semantic characteristics such as they are very sensitive to the shape the nouns take to gather, they have duplications unlike other sortal classifiers and measural ones, and they are between typical sortal classifiers and measural ones in terms of restrictions of which nouns they can associate with, etc. ‘Mung-chi classifiers’ appears first in 16th century in old Korean texts, but they seemed to flourish through 17∼18th century.
