The purpose of this paper is to establish a theology of worship for children and a Sunday service model involving educational meaning. Integration worship for children must be based on a Christian community of faith, an educational ministry, and an intergenerational experience. The theory of integration worship for children is a religious socialization process, which accepts their own roles in a natural way by participating in the service. In terms of learning, they form Christian faith, a Christian life style, _ and behavior patterns (habits). This paper presents a theory and a model of children service with adults.
Children's worship service is different from adult worship service as it does not rely on mass media and technology. It also does not have a single similar age group in common. It is necessary for children to have educational ministry with adults to experience and understand the service that is more visual, faithful, and traditional. The integration service provides intergenerational experience so that families can share faith and life together. The integration service is not for church revival or growth, but to share experience with God and life sharing. Worship is not education, but a learning process for faith formation through liturgy, which needs to be expanded. The integration service is a paradigm of educational ministry because Christian faith and lifestyle are shaped by the Christian faith community.
We live in an individual and informational society, so integration worship for children to share communal life is helpful for children's understanding. Church will have a communal memory and vision between children and their parents. It is necessary for ordained pastors involved in worship to have a recognition of and participation in the children's integrated service. Sunday service has been dominated by adults, but we could make it more community orientated through an integration service with children.
From this aspect, the model of an integrated service for children has resulted from an experimental program at a Korean church. It presents a children's sermon model as part of the Sunday service with church members. Even though this model can have various results depending on the environmental conditions, the most important factor is the act of an integrated service and its experience.
