The purpose of this study is to analyze the change of trade structure among Korea, China, Japan and US, when current tariffs are lifted among them by the conclusion of bilateral FTAs.
For this purpose, this study analyzed the trade structure among the four countries and international competitiveness of six major industries in the US market. and estimated the change of trade structure among Korea, China, Japan and US expecting after the conclusion of FTAs by four scenario using the standard GTAP(Global Trade Analysis Project) model.
As for the international competitiveness of the six major industries, Korea was most competitive in electric and electronic industry, China was most competitive in the textile, steel and metal, machine industry, and Japan appeared most competitive in chemical and auto industry.
As for effects on Korea and US FTA, exports from Korea to US will increase significantly, but exports from Korea to China and Japan will decrease. As for Korea, China, Japan and US FTA, exports from Korea to China will be expected to be greatest.
