Korea Government has undertaken northeast Asian business hub strategy to create a national competitive advantage in northeast Asia. But new government published Northeast Asian Economic Hub including construction of SOC in Northeast Asia for promoting peace, promotion of formation of Northeast Asia Community, logistics hub, Financial hub and national innovation for R&D Cluster.
To implement the northeast Asian logistic hub in Korea, the field survey on the Domestic Logistic System and Logistic Center was done by origin/destination analysis. Through this analysis, most traders used the road transport and OCDY in Busan and Busan Port to export and import the goods. And coast liner and rail trasport were a little used.
Origin/destination analysis gives guidelines in the domestic logistics system and logistics center. Firstly, transport via Gwangyang port must be increased to establish two-port system.
Secondly, the container transport by coast liner and rail must be increased to acquire the national competitive advantage. Thirdly, ODCY in Busan region must be closed in gradual to prevent the traffic jam in roads in Busan and increase in logistics cost and alternatively Busan new port must be established promptly. The ways to achieve Northeast Asian Logistics Hub are the construction of port hardware infra to accomodate the container cargoes, the construction of the vicinity area of the ports, the establishment of inland logistics centers and interconnection to the distribution centers, the constructions of the rail, road, costal transport infrastructures.
