Recently there have been a number of discussions on the construction of the port cluster as a part of the logistical hub's policy in Northeast Asia. It seems, however, that the academic literature approach of the port cluster is not firmly developed.
The purpose of this paper is to establish theoretical background of port cluster and investigate the strategies of Korean port for the deploy Logistics Hub in Northeast Asia. To do this study, this paper draw out the factors that influence the construction of the port cluster and then the empirical analysis was conducted to analyze local characteristics in major Korean ports based upon above critical factors.
This study provides the government policy implication for each center and local government using a uniform port cluster strategy without enough examination about each regions characteristics. There is a little room concerning national waste to concentrate a policy assistance on all fields in port. However this research can be a guide through which a policy can be established through the basis of selection and concentration on local port policy.
