One of characteristics in the recent Korean literature is journeyㆍpost-frontierㆍmulti-cultural narratives. Hae I-su's literature is the journey narrative that allows othernessㆍdiversity to be speculated. Young people in their 20s and 30s, who faced unemployment crisis, a sense of burden for school expenses, and irregular-job situation, manage otherness-basedㆍdiaspora-based life while making a journey to Australia, Africa, and Nepal, and making overseas studying life and immigrant life. Travelers, immigrants, foreign workers, and international students, who are main characters in novel, spend busy and hard daily life as Homo Sacer, who escaped from the protection of the law while receiving racial discrimination and exclusion amid a flow of the wholly global capital and imperialism. This phenomenon is not specially different even in Korean society. These people can not help being marginal man, minority, Diaspora, and nomad. Key words in Hae I-su's novel are journey(migration) and anxiety. This anxiety implies the existential anxiety called a pursuit for the original ego, and the socially economic anxiety that was produced by jungle life in winner takes all, which is led by neo-liberalism. His novel makes it suggested a right of otherness, ethics of otherness, and human rights of otherness through anxious life of other people like immigrant, guide, foreign worker, adopted child, and Oriental woman. In a sense of having narrative characteristics and critical mind of our era, which calls over earnestness that needs to realize multi-culturalism, not single culturalism, along with philosophy in the otherness and the ethics in the otherness through life of main character, who endures agony of diaspora amid the multi-cultural society without multi-culture, Hae I-su's literature has historical value.
